50s Theme Party, ahoy!

I think that the 50s were a great time in fashion, though not the best time for things like rights and liberties. At least not in the U.S. of A. However, that doesn't make theme parties for that era any less fun!
It would be disingenuous to say that I am 100% in favor of glorification of misogynistic eras or characters, but it is fun if you take it at face value, which most people do. So, to not get too convuluted in social responsibility, let's enjoy some themed items from Etsy, a very socially responsible website. ;)

Every good hostess needs an apron to avoid any potential spills and look cute! Also, aprons are flattering for two reasons: you look like you've actually been up to something to ready for your guests and you don't need to be slim because it cinches at everyone's thinnest part--the waist! The sweetheart neckline on this apron is to-die-for! From Boojiboo.

Any Heroes fans out there know all about HRG (aka Noah) and these cute glasses are the perfect accessory to define your 50s look! From jamielanie.

Serving implements are essential to make the 50s atmosphere all the more authentic. Here are a few possibilities.

1. Serving tray from LadyGrungeVintique.

2. Atomic glasses from JustYouWait

3. This pitcher is so cute, and you can fill it with grown-up juice! From fastercat6880.

This is definitely off topic, but these earrings are the best things I've ever seen. All of DorisAnne's items are beautiful. I can see myself in every pair and I'm buying one as a gift to myself for making an 'A' on my last paper because I can. :)

As far as a 50s meal, you have to go classic. Try these American staples! (I am fantasizing these tasty things on my white CB2 flatware. I certainly recommend CB2 to everyone!

Meatloaf! An American icon. Complete with ketchup!

The first side has to be carrots, that's practically a rule! Plus, they're sweet which is nice with the meatloaf.

My absolute favorite side dish has to be, smashed potatoes! They are extra tasty with meatloaf and good for mixing up your food in. :)

The dessert should be obvious by now--APPLE PIE! With vanilla ice cream on the side, of course. Or a slice of cheese if you're feeling very gauche!

Okay, this entry was on the long side and took me awhile to compile, but I'm completely happy with it and want to go out and host a theme party right now! Maybe that will be an end-of-the-school-year bash. Sounds like a prime idea to me!

Ciao. :)

Wandervogel.

I am very much in the mood of wanting to travel this week. I really want to go somewhere and explore. I'm getting a real travel itch with all of this sitting still and focus on school and the like. I need to do something outside of my current spectrum very soon. Perhaps another trip to Toronto will slake my wanderlust. Or maybe Montreal, just to experience something new. Although, I want to re-experience Toronto now that I know my way around and would budget my time a lot better.

I've also been wanting to focus more ardently on my Spanish. I have been neglecting it, aside from listening to tons of Spanish music. I might go for Podcasts in Spanish to force myself to immerse, even if that only leads to understanding it spoken rather than speaking it the absolute best.

To get into today's picks, I was definitely feeling a bit cheeky and desirous of escape. I think those feelings are pretty clearly expressed...enough talk, check 'em out.

I love a light read, and this book will definitely turn heads as you flip through it on the train. From VintageEtc.

This dress is beyond perfect for those mornings when you wake up feeling like Eddie Van Halen. That happens to me frequently, I dunno about you! From darrylblack.

On my travels, I like to stand out on my own terms and make friends with my winning personality. ;) However, wearing a conversation piece doesn't hurt! This cute little necklace gives you a quick moustache without the hormonal imbalance! From honeypopjewellry.

Now, the human body is beautiful, but that statement is a complete cop-out. The reason I love these rings is because they're a bit dirty and dirty is fun. From thelovelyteaspoon.

So, that was fun. Now, I'm off. I am having a very funny chat with my friend at the moment while simultaneously flirting with the library attendent. The life of a wandering dreamer!

I think John Keats said it best,

"O for a draught of vintage! that hath been
Cool'd a long age in the deep-delvèd earth,
Tasting of Flora and the country-green,
Dance, and Provençal song, and sunburnt mirth!"

I have had a very interesting week. I've been doing some real thinking about the sorts of things I want to do before I become a cog in the machine and have come up with a short list of absolute necessities.

Here they go:

1. See Plitvice Falls

2. Go to the house where Keats died

3. Climb a mountain

4. Learn an African language

5. Teach politics in Latin America

Now, today's items will be simple: an outfit for a day in the life of a girl embarking on one of those great adventures. They fit my current style and are generally adorable, as I am. ;) L'enjoi!

First, it's pretty clear that I have a thing for rings so that'll be my first accessory. I love the pale white and green contrasted in this ring by littlebugjewelry.

Next, it's sunny in Latin America and it certainly gets bright the closer you get to the sun, so sunglasses are a natural necessity. From vintagestyle101

I like to be comfortable, and I know you do too. I can see myself with a graphic tee or even a delicate top under this slouchy vest from RaraeAves.

To bring along all my notes or gear and snacks thisshoulder bag is perfect. The color is neutral enough to be paired with any outfit. From bayanhippo.

Finally, either with leggings or skinny jeans, these boots are perfect for a day of moulding young minds. :) From GirlLeastLikely.

Simple meals are best in the heat and these recipes go perfectly with that spirit. Also, I love pasta and colorful foods! Imagine picking up the veggies needed at the local market in Chile or Argentina. :) No drink this week, since of course you head out and get a tasty fruit drink on the street!

Perfect, colorful pasta. Click.

Spicy risotto balls. See recipe here.

Hope you liked today's entry. I'm going to try and be more consistent with my entries.
Adiós!

Mucho Amor!

I'm back with some more great love-related items. But first, I must give an homage to the greatest snackum EVER, white Flipz! I'm moments from enjoying them.

At any rate, back to the love!

I hope you adore today's stuff. There are some great his/hers couplings today.

Up first, we've got a lovely jacket for him and a sweet dress for her. Possibly for a special date night? Or any night!

I absolutely love cotton dresses, especially when I want to feel completely comfortable in my skin. It's always so breathable, and perfect for leaning in close to your sweetie! Did I mention I love anything that cinches at the waist and doesn't try too hard? From nstylevintage

This is a bit of a lens into the sorta fellow I like, but I think this jacket is beyond perfect for any guy! And I love the way this seller presents their wares! From MotherMidnight.

Next up, gifts to exchange at your date night! I know, I know...it's a holiday driven by consumerism, etc. Well, since we're getting all vintage/handmade items we're really boosting individual creativity and thus helping effect the market in a positive way. :) XOXO!

This leather bracelet set is pretty cool. Wouldn't it look good on your guy? From IsSilver

In my mind, everybody likes art. However, everybody doesn't like perfect, sweet, colorful prints. But guess what, who cares about those jerks? Look at this cute print from printspace. I bet your lady will love it!

Just in case you and your love decide to eat in for this date, here are some tasty recipes you must consider! Cooking together will build the love! ;)

Dessert!. Pretty self-explanatory, looks great, will taste great. Enjoy!

The Main Course. I love salmon, and this salmon en croute seemed like such a simple thing to put together!

The Side. You can't go wrong with rice, and the cilantro will pair well with the salmon!

The Drink. I saw some mangoes at the market the other day and knew I had to incorporate it somehow!

Alrighty, hope you loved the fun love-y stuff today. I need to reward myself with those Flipz I was talking about! :D

Oops.

So, I've neglected y'all. Things have been a bit busy so I haven't been in front of a computer for awhile.

As a reward for returning to read, I'm going to do all romance all the time until Valentine's Day. I will alternate between sappy and sarcastic.

Today, it'll be sappy. I found some sweet items for a man or a woman. If you ever get the urge to sit with your loved one and write in a journal, in your separate little nooks in the house, but always together because you've got a constant reminder of you love right there on your finger, today's entry is for you.

Check it!

First, some rings.

For him a ring from tinahdee

For her, a ring from MintyFreshFusions

A journal for him from inblue.

This cute bow journal is perfect for her! From LucyBlaireCreations.

Alright, I've got to run off to class now! Hope you liked it.

Tongue in Cheek.

Today's entry is devoted to my sister and all of the guys who tend to get too eager. It's a wedding themed entry! Get excited! (Though no one on this end is getting married ANYTIME soon!)

I'm basically going to go from top to bottom with this one, all from Etsy! Enjoy! I'm gonna stick to my end of things, though. Wouldn't want to get too rpesumptive!

Dress. Invitations. Cake. Favors. Garter. Hair Pin. Shoes. Ring. Flower Bouquet.

Let's begin!

The dress, it has lovely accents but still that beautiful, soft look every bride dreams of! All of the dresses from this seller are beautiful though, englishdept.

The invitations are so pretty and the color scheme can carry nicely into a modern wedding! From sanskripts.

The cake must be custom, but if you're in the Seattle area this seller makes beautiful cakes! From cakegrll

This is a bit upper class of me, but I love the idea of these monogram cookies piled high on the tasty treats table! Imagine--your initials and theirs in cookie form. Perfection! From peacelovecookies.

The garter (a special treat for your new spouse ;D) I chose is from myrakim I love the little beads (your something blue!) and think it would be a lovely memento!

On one's wedding day, one's hair must be in perfect order and topped off with a lovely pin. This one from PastEnchantments is gorgeous and simple.

I was a bit conflicted on the shoes, but these goldies are so cute I couldn't resist. From dldarcy.

Of course, the ring is essential! That lovely thing he slides on your hand on your wedding day is just too nice, but we all know the shininess comes with the engagement ring! This one is too pretty. From lonestarestates.

The flower bouquet is a classic wedding piece. This one from SurroundingsOnline does the trick for me. Simple. Pretty. Pink!

I must admit, searching for wedding items on a silly whim has certainly ignited my internal wedding desires! Everything I sought out, I'd love for myself! I admit it, I have wedding fever today! ;) I hope this got your mind racing about your wedding! No matter how far off in the future that fabulous event may be!

Love ya! ;) (Feel the love!!)

(P.S. Next time, it'll be a 50s themed blog in honor of a sweet little idea I had!)
